Jetset traveller, there is only one place to be this spring and it's Monaco. Kicking off the Cannes Film Festival, F1 Grand Prix, Blue Sky and Wild Nights season on the Cote d'Azur is This Year's contemporary art fair: Art Monaco 2010.
Get ready for a sensory explosion in a mega melting pot of creativity at Monaco’s largest indoor contemporary art event! From Thursday April 29 to Sunday May 2nd, 2010, The Grimaldi Forum will be transformed into a 4 thousand square meters art gallery for Art Monaco’10 – Special Edition. Monaco will serve as host to more than 60 exclusive galleries from around the globe. Galleries will showcase and sell their original creations during the fourday festival. A VIP reception on April 29 will kick off the event, followed by three full days of vernisage style exhibits open to the public.
Art Monaco’10 | Special Editions, was fashioned for the growing need to support local and international art. It serves as the perfect creative environment for these «galleries» to get together, networking and sell their artworks under one exclusive roof and for the public to view and purchase incredible works of art from Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Tommy Wilson, Philippe Pastor, Agostino Bonalumi, Lucio Fontana, Nikolai Blokhin, Aung Kyaw Htet, Enkhtaivan O., John Nicholson, A. Jeitz, Navch, Alessandro Dubini and many other well known and emerging artists.
This year’s artists will be coming from countries such as the United States, China, Mexico, Africa, Russia, Lebanon, Colombia, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, France, Germany, Canada, Israel, Thailand, Mongolia, Taiwan, Czech Republic... One incredible edition to Art Monaco’10 is Jorge Iglesias artwork, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, who is renowned worldwide for his unique INVISIBLE SCULPTURES and PAINTINGS with MOVEMENT. Jorge Iglesias will showcase his artwork for the first time in Europe. His one-of-a-kind style has earned him the title «Creator of the Invisible». Art critics have said that Jorge Iglesias has achieved with his art what Da Vinci and Dali could not.
Art Monaco’10 will be awarding six prestigious prizes to top exhibitors during the event:
«Le coup de Coeur de Monaco’10» Two (2) awards will be presented in this category. The first «Coup de Coeur» award will be presented to the exhibitor that catches the eye of Monaco’s highest authority attending the show.
The second «Coup de Coeur» will be voted upon by distinguished guests attending the festival’s opening night.
The following four (4) awards will been determined by a jury comprised of seven esteemed figures from the international cultural scene.
«Le Prix d’excellence Qualité Artistique» This award will be attributed to the gallery showcasing overall outstanding artistic quality.
«Le Prix d’excellence Pensé Écologique» This award will be presented by the artist guest of honour Philippe Pastor to the gallery that displays the best use of recycled materials in their artwork or to a gallery promoting an ecological/environmental theme
«Le Prix d’excellence Baroque» This award will be granted to the gallery exhibiting the most eccentric,exuberant, shocking or stunning piece of artwork – a piece that really gets the crowd talking!
«Le Prix d’excellence Émotif» This prize will be awarded to the gallery displaying the most meaningful piece of art; artwork that elicits strong feelings, whether positive or negative – love it or hate it, laugh or cry, this award is designed for the piece that strikes at the heart of one’s emotions.
